One Day Walk to Separation Point in Abel Tasman National Park

You need to be staying in Golden Bay for this trip.

A delightful one day walk to Separation Point in the less frequented part of the Park. The Point is a distinctive high cliff between Golden Bay and Tasman Bay with magnificent sea views to the seal colony and Farewell Spit in the distance.

Itinerary

Totaranui to Separation Point
We depart Takaka and drive to Totaranui via Pohara and Wainui Bay where we view Taupo Point where Abel Tasman arrived in 1642. From Wainui to Totaranui is a spectacular bush covered road over a high saddle and is a special treat in itself. We walk from Totaranui, visiting Anapai Bay and Mutton Cove before arriving at Separation Point. We retrace our steps, visiting an old grove of karaka trees, of special significance to the Maori people who lived in the area.
