A strenuous trip of 3 - 4 hard days, suitable for fit people who want to experience wilderness tramping. The trip up the Anatoki River, cross a saddle to the Stanley River, down to the earthquake formed Lake Stanley, down the Waingaro River, then over the Lockett range to the Killdevil descent, is a serious trip. The bush is spectacular, the views splendid, and waterfalls galore. This route is rarely travelled, but is one of Golden Bays classic walks. Minimum duration of trip 3 days, usually 4.
