Boulder Lake is one of the special places of Golden Bay. It is a glacial lake high up in the mountains, surrounded by 1600m high peaks.

We stay in a lovely new hut in a sunny spot sited for the views.

It is a 6 - 7 hour walk into the Lake, so a minimum of 3 days is required, with two days needed to explore the mountains nearby.

You will need to be reasonably fit as we cross a 1300m pass on the way, with quite incredible views.
