It is approximately 1 hours drive from either Nelson or Takaka to the Graham Valley, then the road rises steeply to the Flora Saddle at 945m where there is a lookout and a surprisingly large carpark.

From the carpark there are 2 main day walks.

Mount Arthur walk starts to climb gently through beautiful beech and mountain neinei forest up to the Arthur Hut. Beyond the hut on the open tops are good views, alpine flowers and a poled route to the marble summit of Mt Arthur. At 1795m it is a 2 - 6 hour return walk depending on level of fitness and how far we go. This walk offers splendid views of Nelson from both the approach ridges and the top.

The Flora Saddle and walk down the Flora Stream is a gentler bush walk for the less adventurous along a wide track in a beautiful beech forest. This can be anything from 2 to 4 hours return depending of fitness.

For those with more time, this is also the way in to the Tablelands, for overnight stays or access to the Cobb Valley.
