Moira Gate Limestone Arch |
Oparara Arch
The big limestone arch is a truly majestic sight, so big that it is
hard to photograph and you don’t even see it until you are underneath,
so thick is the bush! We walk through the arch and its huge tunnel.
You may even see blue duck in the river.
Moira Gate
The small arch is very picturesque and takes an hour round trip, the
track is through a beautiful rainforest and moss covered trees.
Mirror Tarn
We walk along an old logging track alongside the Oparara River until
we get to this delightful small lake, so surrounded by bush that the
wind hardly disturbs the surface.
Crazy Paving and Box Canyon
Caves
These two caves are quite different in character, the Crazy Paving
is small and the floor bed is so distinctive, hence the name. The
Box Canyon Cave is more like walking through a railway tunnel and
goes on for quite a length. (Spelelunga cave spiders and cave wetas
can be seen).
