WALK AND ANAHATA YOGA RETREAT
Want to try something different? This package gives you the opportunity to have 3 days exploring the inland Abel Tasman National Park before experiencing relaxation and spiritual nourishment at Anahata Yoga Retreat. We meet you in either Takaka or Nelson and begin our walk from Wainui. We follow the Abel Tasman coast track to Wharawharangi Hut, before heading inland along a less traveled path to Awapoto Hut. We emerge from the beech forest on the afternoon of the third day at Anahata Yoga Retreat, beautifully situated on the edge of the National Park, overlooking Golden Bay and beyond. ITINERARY
FULL DETAILS
DAY 1
We pick you up in Takaka/Nelson 8.30am. As this is a short day (only 2 hrs walking), we like to take this opportunity to take you to Wainui Falls before we enjoy our picnic lunch and then begin the track. We start with a gentle climb to the top of the Wharawharangi saddle, with magnificent views overlooking Wainui Bay, before dropping down to the Wharawharangi (DOC) Hut. This historic hut used to be an old farm homestead and has been renovated beautifully. It is a delight to stay in.
DAY 2
We begin our day by climbing to the summit of Gibbs Hill (800m) before following the ridge along to Pigeon Saddle and then on to Awapoto Hut. Once off the coastal track the path becomes less maintained and can be rough under foot. Good fitness is essential for this day as we climb approximately 900m and the terrain is often uneven. The views over the Awaroa estuary from Awapoto are fantastic.
DAY 3
We continue inland through beech forest until we reach Wainui Hut. Here we enjoy our tasty lunch before crossing the Wainui River and heading out to Bird's Clearing. Once we emerge from the forest we get stunning views across the Golden Bay. It is here that the Anahata Yoga Retreat is situated. We arrive at approximately 4pm, in time for you to settle in and join the evening meal.
DAY 4
This is your full day to experience the Anahata Yoga Retreat programme. You can easily extend the number of days you wish to spend here, just contact us and we can arrange it. Depending on the day of the week and the time in the season there will be different classes on offer. Feel free to partake in as much or as little of the programme as you wish.
DAY 5
We will pick you up from Anahata Yoga Retreat at approximately 1pm and return you to either Takaka or Nelson.
